Causes of SI Joint Pain
The causes of Si joint pain can be broken down to these four categories:
- Traumatic
- Biomechanical
- Hormonal
- Inflammatory joint disease
Traumatic
Traumatic injuries that cause Si joint pain are caused when there is a sudden impact to the joint. A common example is a fall which lands you on your buttocks. This kind of injury usually causes damage to the ligaments which support the joint, rather than damaging the Si joint itself.
Biomechanical
Pain due to biomechanical injuries will usually develop over a period of time and are usually caused by increased activity and/or a change in your occupation, or sport you are involed in, etc. Most commonly, biomechanical problems include:
Leg length difference
Overpronation of the joint
Having a 'twisted pelvis'
A muscle imbalance
Hormonal imbalance
Hormonal imbalances usually occur during pregnancy. As the joint prepares for delivery, as well as the added weight gain, Si joint pain may develop.
Inflammatory joint disease
Inflammatory joint disease are inflammatory conditions which affect the spine. These include Ankylosing Spondylitis which is one of the most common inflammatory conditions that cause SI joint pain. You must give your hub a unique web address.

You can also use white willow for inflammation. I have low back pain, and I make a lineament out of cayenne and white willow in an olive oil base that helps a great deal. I also add a little comfrey on occasion and I take white willow capsules that i get at a local natural market.
